Keith Andrews is hopeful that Kevin Schade can play a part for Brentford when they host Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday.

Schade has scored three goals in the first six league matches of the season, but was forced off in last weekend’s 2-2 draw against Aston Villa due to a shoulder injury.

Teammate Jannik Schuster also sustained an injury in the draw at Villa Park, but Andrews is hopeful that both will be able to feature in the matchday squad for the visit of Andoni Iraola’s side.

‘Jannik (Schuster) and Kev (Schade) have been on the grass this week and we’ll see what tomorrow brings in terms of how much they can do,’ Andrews said in his pre-match press conference.

‘They are different types of injuries. This week, we’ve had to navigate through a few issues.

‘Those two are some of those who are making their way back from injury. Overall, we’re in a really good place.’

Elsewhere, Sepp van den Berg, Mikkel Damsgaard and Nathan Collins are all continuing their progress back to full fitness, with Andrews adding: ‘Closer is the case with all of those players you just mentioned.

‘They’re coming back from different injuries and different lengths of injuries.

‘Dams(gard) is obviously the shortest of all of them. The one he picked up away with Denmark was from a pretty naughty tackle.’

Brentford are one of three sides that are yet to lose this season, leaving Andrews and his squad full of confidence heading into another big test against Liverpool.

‘It’s not in an overconfident way saying we should be able to play Liverpool with a belief we will win the game,’ he said.

‘We’ll have to do a lot of things really well and stop them playing but we’ve shown we can compete against the best teams in the country.’

Iraola’s side, meanwhile, lost their first league game of the season against Manchester City last weekend and could still be without key trio Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexander Isak, and Cody Gakpo for the trip to west London.
