Ayyoub Bouaddi has become one of the most wanted young players on the planet thanks to his World Cup performances and Lille will not let him leave cheaply, or possibly even this summer.

The 18-year-old has been starring for Morocco as they enjoy another fine World Cup outing after their semi-final run in 2022.

The penalty shootout victory over Netherlands on Monday saw Morocco progress to the last 16, where they will play Canada and fancy their chances of another quarter-final visit.

Bouaddi has played in three of his country’s four matches so far, having only won three caps before the tournament began.

He has already racked up a lot of experience for his age at club level, making 96 appearances for Lille in all competitions, including nine in the Champions League.

The all-action midfielder has attracted the attention of the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

Understandably, given the level of clubs interested in the Morocco international, Lille want a huge price for his signature.

French outlet RMC Sport report that Lille are looking for between £69 million and £89m, depending on the nature of the deal.

The Ligue 1 side want Bouaddi to return on loan for next season and would accept a lower fee if that deal could be done.

If interested parties do not want to send the midfielder back on loan then they will have to pay more up front.

The loan proposal may not be attractive to suitors as, even at the lower price, nearly £70m would be a huge investment in a player who would be unavailable for a year.

The Athletic report that Manchester City rate Bouaddi’s versatility and see him as an option in midfield and at right-back.

City are looking to recruit on the right of defence, although Bouaddi would be very unlikely to be brought in and go straight into the team at right-back.

Chelsea’s Malo Gusto has emerged as a target in that position, but a £75m asking price has made a deal unlikely.
